Past Events & Meetings
On Friday October 22nd,2010 Sam Maranto gave a presentaion entitled "A Historical Perspective on UFO Organizations" to the Northwest Society of Astronomy Group of Hoffman Estates.
Some 57 members were in attendance as he covered such past groups as APRO and NICAP. Touching also on the Travis Walton case and some detail on the Dexter Michigan sightings of 1966. Plowing directly into the Condon commitee debacle and the final demise of NICAP.
The results of which were pointed out as being the initial intent of both Condon and the Air Force.
Ending with a brief overview of both MUFON and CUFOS in addition to a introduction to the Exopolitial arena.
It was in the Q&A session that many misperceptions emerged.
"How is it that after some sixty plus years of UFO research there isn't as much as one government insider stepping forward or even one death bed confession?"
Sam replied "You're wrong!"
Pointing out the book by Donald Schmitt & Tom Carey on death bed confessions "Witness to Roswell". Then as far as government insiders go, Sam referenced the recent September 27th National Press Club presentation. Sadly no one in the audience knew of either the book or the event at the national press club.
It wasn't long thereafter that Sam just decided to walk over to the uninformed yet vocal gentleman and say"This is for you"giving him as a gift , a fresh copy of Leslie Keans new book "UFOs Generals,Pilots,and Government Officials Go On the Record"
Julie Maranto, John Stephenson and Sam joined the group afterwards for pizza and futher conversation.
There were more than your average amount of so called Skeptics in this group all of which openly admit to never doing a valued research into the subject.
Depending only on the main media and whatever is being told to them by select so called experts they have dimissed the very notion of this being anything
of value to science and nothing more than nonsense.
Utterly unshakable in their beliefs.
Again this wasn't the entire group but clearly the many.
How sad...
